Advisory Services
Clarity before complexity.
Successful transformation starts with understanding the business. Our advisory services help organisations evaluate their current processes, identify opportunities, and define a practical technology roadmap.
Where this fitsAdvisory decides what should change and why. Our digital transformation services build it.
The business problem
The system is rarely the real question.
By the time most organisations start looking at enterprise software, the problem has already been framed as a product decision. Which ERP. Which CRM. Which version.
That framing skips a step. The reason month-end takes eleven days, or the sales team keeps its real pipeline in a spreadsheet, or three departments each report a different revenue figure, is usually not the software. It is a process that grew around a constraint that no longer exists, a data model that was never designed for the way the business now operates, or an integration that a person has been quietly performing by hand for four years.
Buying a new platform without answering those questions moves the problem. Advisory work answers them first, so the money you spend on implementation goes into something that will actually hold.
Our approach
How an advisory engagement runs.
Short, structured and deliberately time-boxed. Advisory work that runs indefinitely has usually stopped being advisory work.
Understand
Interviews and working sessions with the people who run the process daily — not only the people who own it on the org chart. We document what actually happens, including the workarounds.
Analyse
Map where time, accuracy and visibility are being lost, and separate constraints caused by process design from those caused by the systems underneath.
Define
Set out the target process, the supporting architecture and the realistic options — each with its cost, risk and implications stated rather than implied.
Plan
Sequence the change into phases that can be funded and delivered independently, so value arrives before the whole programme completes.

ERP & CRM Consulting
Align your enterprise systems with the way your business operates.
ERP and CRM consulting establishes what your enterprise systems need to do for the business, and how they should be structured to do it, before implementation begins. That covers the process design, the data model, the integration boundaries and the platform decision itself.
We work through the areas where these systems most often go wrong: chart of accounts and dimension design that cannot answer the questions management asks; master data that three teams maintain differently; a sales process in CRM that does not match the order process in ERP; and reporting requirements discovered after go-live.
- Current-state process and systems reviewWhat you run today, how it is used, and where it constrains the business.
- Requirements definition in business languageWritten so that finance, operations and IT can all agree what is being asked for.
- Platform evaluation and fit assessmentAn honest view of what standard functionality covers and what it does not.
- Target process and data model designIncluding dimensions, master data ownership and integration boundaries.
- Implementation planning and readinessScope, sequence, effort and the decisions that must be made before build starts.
Business Process Reengineering
Redesign inefficient processes to improve visibility, productivity, and operational performance.
Business process reengineering helps organisations identify inefficient workflows, redesign operations, and improve how people, systems and information work together. The distinction that matters: it does not automate the current process. It asks why each step exists at all.
Most long-running processes accumulate steps that made sense once — a reconciliation added after an error in 2016, an approval introduced when a system could not enforce a limit, a spreadsheet that bridges two applications nobody ever integrated. Automating those steps preserves them. Reengineering removes them.
- End-to-end process mappingFollowing the work across departments rather than stopping at each team’s boundary.
- Handoff and delay analysisIdentifying where work waits, and what it is waiting for.
- Control reviewSeparating approvals that manage genuine risk from those that add delay without adding control.
- Target operating process designA redesigned process with clear ownership, exception handling and measurement.
- Change and adoption planningWhat has to happen to the roles and the training, not only to the system.
Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O Advisory
Plan and optimise your Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations journey with experienced consulting expertise.
Advisory work specific to Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations — whether you are deciding if it is the right platform, planning a migration from AX, recovering an implementation that has drifted, or trying to work out why a live system is not delivering what was expected.
Because F&O is a large product with strong opinions about how processes should run, most of the value here comes from deciding early where to adopt the standard model and where a genuine business requirement justifies extending it. That decision, made well, is the single biggest influence on what the system costs to own over the following five years.
- Fit-gap assessmentWhere standard F&O meets your requirements, and where it genuinely does not.
- Migration assessment from AX 2009 / AX 2012What can carry across, what must be rebuilt, and what should be retired.
- Implementation health reviewAn independent read on scope, architecture and delivery risk on a programme already underway.
- Licensing and environment planningSizing, environment strategy and the cost model over time.
- Optimisation of a live systemAddressing performance, process fit and adoption after go-live.
Enterprise Technology Strategy
Make confident technology decisions that support long-term business growth.
Strategy work for organisations facing decisions with a long shadow: consolidating systems after acquisitions, deciding what to build versus buy, planning a move off ageing infrastructure, or setting the direction for the estate over the next three to five years.
We keep this practical. A technology strategy that cannot be turned into a funded sequence of projects is not a strategy — it is an opinion.
- Application portfolio reviewWhat you run, what it costs, what it duplicates, and what should be retired.
- Build, buy or configure analysisWith the total cost of ownership and the maintenance burden made explicit.
- Architecture directionIntegration patterns, data ownership and where the system of record for each domain sits.
- Investment sequencingWhat to do first, what depends on it, and what can safely wait.
- GovernanceHow decisions get made and reviewed once the strategy is live.
Digital Transformation Roadmaps
Turn a broad ambition into a sequence that can actually be delivered.
A roadmap is where transformation programmes most often go wrong — not because the destination is unclear, but because everything is scheduled to happen at once, dependencies are discovered late, and the business has no capacity to absorb the change at the rate the plan assumes.
We build roadmaps that account for delivery capacity, business change capacity, and the dependencies between workstreams — and that produce something useful at the end of each phase rather than only at the end.
- Phased delivery planEach phase independently valuable, so the programme can pause without stranding investment.
- Dependency and risk mappingTechnical and organisational, surfaced before they become schedule problems.
- Capacity assessmentWhat your teams can realistically absorb alongside running the business.
- Investment profileCost and benefit spread across the phases rather than presented as one number.
- Measurement frameworkHow you will know each phase worked.
Technology Assessment & Optimisation
Review what you already run, and where it is holding the business back.
Not every problem needs a new platform. A significant proportion of the value we find is in systems the organisation already owns and is not using well — configuration that never matched the process, integrations that fail silently, reports nobody trusts, or licences being paid for and not used.
An assessment establishes what is actually true about the current estate, and produces a prioritised list of changes ranked by effort against benefit.
- System and configuration reviewHow the platform is set up against how the business runs.
- Integration and data quality reviewWhere information breaks down between systems.
- Performance and scalability assessmentWhether the current design will hold as volumes grow.
- Cost and licensing reviewWhat is being paid for, and what is being used.
- Prioritised remediation planOrdered by benefit against effort, with quick wins identified separately.

Business outcomes
What advisory work is meant to produce.
These are the outcomes we design an engagement to deliver. What any individual organisation achieves depends on its starting position, and we will say so during scoping.
A decision you can defend
A recommendation with the reasoning, the alternatives and the trade-offs documented — so it survives scrutiny from the board and from the team who has to deliver it.
Scope that holds
Requirements defined precisely enough that implementation estimates mean something and change requests are the exception.
Less rework later
Data model, integration and process decisions resolved before build, where changing them is cheap.
Processes worth automating
Workflows redesigned before they are encoded, so automation locks in the improved process rather than the old one.
A fundable plan
Phases with defined scope, cost and benefit that a finance function can approve one at a time.
Alignment across the business
Finance, operations and IT working from one agreed description of the target process.
Common questions
ERP and CRM consulting, explained.
What is ERP and CRM consulting?
ERP and CRM consulting is advisory work that decides how enterprise resource planning and customer relationship management systems should support a business — before those systems are built or changed.
It covers reviewing current processes, defining requirements in business terms, evaluating platform options, designing the target process and data model, and producing a delivery plan. It is distinct from implementation, which is the work of configuring and building the system once those decisions have been made.
When should a business consider ERP consulting?
Common triggers are: month-end close taking longer than it should; teams maintaining spreadsheets alongside the ERP because the system does not fit the process; an ERP version approaching end of support; a merger or new entity the current system cannot absorb; or an implementation that has stalled.
In each case the underlying question is the same — whether the constraint is the process, the configuration or the platform. Establishing which is exactly what advisory work is for.
How does ERP consulting help improve business processes?
It makes the current process visible end to end, including the manual steps and workarounds that have accumulated around system limitations.
Once the full picture exists, it becomes possible to separate steps that exist for a real business or regulatory reason from steps that exist only because a system could not do something. The redesigned process removes the second category, and the system is then configured around what genuinely remains.
What is the difference between ERP implementation and customisation?
Implementation is deploying and configuring the standard product for your organisation — entities, chart of accounts, workflows, security roles and master data, using capability the platform already provides.
Customisation is writing new code to extend the product where a genuine business requirement is not met by standard functionality. Sound practice is to exhaust configuration first, because every customisation adds cost at every subsequent upgrade.
What is business process reengineering?
Business process reengineering helps organisations identify inefficient workflows, redesign operations, and improve how people, systems and information work together.
Rather than automating an existing process as it stands, it questions why each step exists, removes handoffs that add delay without adding control, and rebuilds the process around the outcome it is meant to produce.
How long does an advisory engagement take?
It depends on scope, and we will give you a specific answer during scoping rather than a general one here. As a guide, a focused assessment of a single process area is a shorter piece of work than a full portfolio review across a multi-entity group.
What we hold to in every case is that the engagement is time-boxed with a defined deliverable. Advisory work without an end date tends to stop producing decisions.
